Praising His Name in the Dance

Jack took our boys and I to the beach for a couple of days before school started.  At one point they were out in the ocean playing and I was walking along the surf praying.  The water was up to my knees when the waves came in, causing some effort to walk and for a moment I wondered what that feeling reminded me of.  Then I remembered, worshiping God!

There are times when I have danced in worship that I can hardly breathe, like there is a metal band around my ribs.  There are times when I feel like I have shackles on my legs.  There are times when I feel like I am dancing in mire.  I have had pains in my shoulder; pains in my hips, and pains in my feet.  And I rejoice all the same!

Basil and I were talking a while back and he remarked that I always have a smile on my face when I am dancing.  I laughed and told him it is because I am always surprised at what new pain hits me….but that is not the real reason.

I am always smiling because I know something that you may not know, and that is the power in the name of Jesus.

That name of Jesus is greater than any name.  The name of Jesus is greater than any spirit.  It is greater than any sickness. And I have come to learn it is greater than my feelings.

Philippians 2 tells us;

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.  9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (emphasis added)

I know when I dance every spirit has to go, every pain has to leave, and every knee has to bow, because of the power in that name.  I have seen that power work in the sanctuary and I have seen it work in my home.  I know the name of Jesus works when it feels like I have no faith left or it looks like there is no hope.  How can I not smile when I have that confidence?

Psalm 149:3 states; Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. (emphasis added) That is exactly what I am doing when I am dancing in worship, I am praising the name that is above every name!  I am praising the name that always gets the victory!  I am praising the name that always delivers and heals! I am praising the name of Jesus. Praise His Name!
